Ideas for what comes next

None of these are planned yet. They are ideas, roughly from smaller to bigger, and each would make a good project for a reader of this book:

• More of the band: more styles, and more instruments it can bring to any of them, as it brings the horns now (A horn section).
• A soloist that is no longer an experiment (The soloist).
• Recording in song mode: today Rec switches to pattern mode and records into the pattern that loops (exercise 22 of Part II).
• Audio clips on the tracks, next to the patterns, placed and moved like any clip. An imported recording now plays as one long sampler note on the first step of the song, which the engine starts partway when playback starts later (Starting partway).
• Automation: knob movements recorded or drawn over time, on the tracks.
